Janis Wong is a Research Assistant/Postdoctoral Research Associate at The Alan Turing Institute researching on artificial intelligence, ethics, and public policy. She is finishing up her PhD in Computer Science at the Centre for Research into Information, Surveillance and Privacy (CRISP), University of St Andrews. Janis was a Research Fellow at the Open Data Institute in 2020/21, focusing on data protection and governance in online teaching, learning analytics, and educational technology. She is an active science communicator and has provided expert insight into data protection issues for organisations such as the BBC, STV, and PRI The World. Janis holds a Bachelor of Laws from the London School of Economics and a Master of Science in Computing and Information Technology from the University of St Andrews.
