The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada has released a draft report on their Consumer Privacy Consultations held earlier this year. Comments are invited before a final report is prepared for publication in 2011.
The OPC Consumer Privacy Consultations looked at online tracking, profiling and targeting, and cloud computing, with the aim of learning more about certain industry practices, exploring their privacy implications, and finding out what privacy protections Canadians expect with respect to these practices. These consultations were also intended to inform the next legislative review process for the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
The draft report highlight issues that the OPC intends to focus on, as well as certain areas where they are seeking additional input from stakeholders on certain topics.
